    Default Lavender Loaf

    Hi everyone,
    This is a personal favourite which I make more often than I'd like you admit. Hope you enjoy

    3/4 cup of full cream milk
    3 Tablespoons finely chopped lavender
    6 Tablespoons of softened butter
    1 cup of white sugar (I prefer brown sugar)
    2 eggs
    2 cups of cake flour
    1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon of salt

    1. Preheat the oven to 165C or 329F
    2. Grease and flour the loaf pan
    3. In a saucepan, heat the milk and lavender to a simmer and remove to cool
    4. In mixing bowl, combine the butter and sugar and then beat in the eggs one at a time
    5. Add the flour, baking powder and salt to the mixing bowl and mix well
    6. Slowly pour and mix the lavender milk to the batter
    7. Bake for 50 minutes (or until knife pulls out clean) and leave to cool on a wire rack

    I like to eat the loaf with butter and a cup of tea. I've also added different seeds into the mix such as sunflower and pumpkin seeds.

    Hi Auska,

    I must admit that using lavender in cooking is new to me but so far I have loved the warm and fulfilling taste it gives and I am adding it into soups and stews and curries. So, thanks for posting your bread recipe as I can add it to my list
